They are generally peaceful and do best in large systems with plenty of open water, making them well suited for fish-only or large community aquariums. The Atlantic Spadefish is considered reef safe with caution. While it typically leaves corals alone, it may nip at soft corals or sessile invertebrates if underfed. A varied diet is important and should include frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, chopped seafood, and high-quality prepared foods to keep them healthy and growing properly.
